Sattamilladha Udhavi ( A help rendered without publicity)
Nakheeran Issue Dated April 23, 2008
A.R. Rahman has done a service without making any publicity. Film circles are buzzing about this help done by Rahman. There is a society formed amongst the Tamil Film Cinema circle. It is a very old society. When it was started, all musicians from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, andhra were members of it. At one stage, it got disintegrated, and people from other states other than Tamilnadu got separated. And so, only musicians from Tamil Nadu stayed in the end.
There were people who had Music Knowledge and experience, but as people became old, the society couldnt function as before, and slowly stopped functioning. All the musicians also became debt ridden.
Amongst those musicians, 100 people above 50 years were selected, Rahman had given them Rs 25,000 each. By doing this, Rahman has not only supported the musicians, but also music. When asked some musicians, they replied , " Without His permission, we cannot give a public interview on this, which would be like tarnishing the service done by Rahman". Thus saying they stopped giving the interview.
When contacted the Chennai Light Musicians Leader Raghuraj chakravarthy, he said , " Senior Musicians, that too people who have dedicated themselves for music have been suffering in life. Knowing this, and being unable to bear this pain, He has supported them, which is a very proud effort. We could have arranged a very big function for this. But, if we would have done like that, the very purpose of he doing this would not have been served. He has done this without any propaganda which is a very big deed".
" Rahman felt very bad, when he heard about about these musicians, who have been hit badly in their lives. He wanted to help them in some way or the other. So, he decided to initially assist 100 people, ( people who are old enough), and thus putting faith on his close associate he dediced the list of people to be helped. He drew a cheque of Rs 25,000 /- on each and every person out of that 100 list. He called the people concerned and distributed to them. He had done this so that the monies will reach the right people, at the right time, with the right amount. He had clearly told them, not to publicise this, and had even requested about this.
The Highlight of this topic is the humble nature of ARR, and his attitude of not creating any sort of publicity for doing such a wonderful act. This is really a quality to be adored, respected and imbibed for any true Rahmaniac.

Apophis: The Asteroid That Could Smash Into The Earth on Friday, April 13th, 2036
Apophis is an asteroid with an slightly offset orbit to that of Earth's. Discovered in June 2004, astronomers have determined that it will make a very close flyby on April 13th, 2029, where it will pass to within 5 Earth diameters of us. The exact path the asteroid follows on its flyby in 2029 will determine whether it smashes into the Earth seven years later.
From those observations, astronomers calculated a 1-in-200 chance that the asteroid would hit the Earth. If this was true, then this asteroid had become the most dangerous asteroid ever found. After taking more observations , the chances climbed even higher and by the end of December 2004, the chances of the Earth being struck by this asteroid climbed as high as 1-in-37.
Normally, when more observations are taken the chances of this kind of collision decrease. Not so here, it seemed like this thing was really going to hit us.
Luckily, some other observations from other sources were located and they allowed astronomers to calculate a more precise orbit. From those images they were able to conclude that there was no way that Apophis was going to hit the Earth. Whew!

Nokia Morph
Hello All!
If you have accidentally felt that you may be riding the tech wave with your super latest high tech gadget, Nokia might just be able to prove you wrong. Nokia Research Center and the University of Cambridge (UK) have put a lot of effort into creating the Morph.
The Morph is mobile handset indeed, but there's more to it. It's a nanotechnology-driven concept device, which is on display at the New York Museum of Modern Art for a taster of the time when today's super gadgets will be museum exhibits of prehistoric knowledge.
The Morph is a concept that shows what nanotechnology can bring to mobile devices: flexible materials, transparent electronics and self-cleaning surfaces. Stretchable and foldable, transformable to any shape a user can think of, Morph is the ultimate transformers gadget changing its shape according to the user's wishes. One day you have a bracelet, the next - you are up with a QWERTY device for messaging.
Featured in The Museum of Modern Art “Design and The Elastic Mind” exhibition, the Morph concept device is a bridge between highly advanced technologies and their potential benefits to end-users. This device concept showcases some revolutionary leaps being explored by Nokia Research Center (NRC) in collaboration with the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre (United Kingdom) – nanoscale technologies that will potentially create a world of radically different devices that open up an entirely new spectrum of possibilities.
Morph concept technologies might create fantastic opportunities for mobile devices:
* Newly-enabled flexible and transparent materials blend more seamlessly with the way we live
* Devices become self-cleaning and self-preserving
* Transparent electronics offering an entirely new aesthetic dimension
* Built-in solar absorption might charge a device, whilst batteries become smaller, longer lasting and faster to charge
* Integrated sensors might allow us to learn more about the environment around us, empowering us to make better choices
In addition to the advances above, the integrated electronics shown in the Morph concept could cost less and include more functionality in a much smaller space, even as interfaces are simplified and usability is enhanced. All of these new capabilities will unleash new applications and services that will allow us to communicate and interact in unprecedented ways.
Flexible & Changing Design
Morph Phone Operating
Nanotechnology enables materials and components that are flexible, stretchable, transparent and remarkably strong. Fibril proteins are woven into a three dimensional mesh that reinforces thin elastic structures. Using the same principle behind spider silk, this elasticity enables the device to literally change shapes and configure itself to adapt to the task at hand.
A folded design would fit easily in a pocket and could lend itself ergonomically to being used as a traditional handset. An unfolded larger design could display more detailed information, and incorporate input devices such as keyboards and touch pads.
Even integrated electronics, from interconnects to sensors, could share these flexible properties. Further, utilization of biodegradable materials might make production and recycling of devices easier and ecologically friendly.
Self-Cleaning
Nanotechnology also can be leveraged to create self-cleaning surfaces on mobile devices, ultimately reducing corrosion, wear and improving longevity. Nanostructured surfaces, such as “Nanoflowers” naturally repel water, dirt, and even fingerprints utilizing effects also seen in natural systems.
Advanced Power Sources
Nanotechnology holds out the possibility that the surface of a device will become a natural source of energy via a covering of “Nanograss” structures that harvest solar power. At the same time new high energy density storage materials allow batteries to become smaller and thinner, while also quicker to recharge and able to endure more charging cycles.
Sensing The Environment
Nanosensors would empower users to examine the environment around them in completely new ways, from analyzing air pollution, to gaining insight into bio-chemical traces and processes. New capabilities might be as complex as helping us monitor evolving conditions in the quality of our surroundings, or as simple as knowing if the fruit we are about to enjoy should be washed before we eat it. Our ability to tune into our environment in these ways can help us make key decisions that guide our daily actions and ultimately can enhance our health.

A good food recipe site
I was looking to try out something new in my kitchen so searched for some good recipe sites on the net.I came across this cool recipe site called foodconnect.com which houses good recipes. This is the neatest site! It has much more than just recipes. If you do the free sign up you get access to all these features. There are a lot of recipes, my favorite was the crispy honey wings, I cannot wait to try them, I mean, seriously they have the words crispy and honey in the name! You can add the recipe to your favorites or to your shopping list.I really liked the shopping list part. I could just add a bunch of recipes and it would make the list for me! I do wish there was a way to remove individual ingredients or add different ones because I'm not going to be buying that feta cheese! My favorite feature was the event planning section. You put in the date for the event, plan the menu and then print a shopping list for that specific party. You can also email your friends about the party and let them know about the menu.So visit this site if you're in need of any new good recipes.Enjoy!

How could a mosquito fly in mid air in a moving bus?
assume that the bus is already driving at constant speed, no
acceleration or deceleration.
The reason why a mosquito can fly inside a moving bus is, that you have a closed
system. Everything in this bus is moving at the same speed including the air,
every single molecule. This means all air molecules move with the same speed as
the bus. So a mosquito flying inside the bus only has to deal with movements
relative to the surrounding air inside the bus.
During acceleration or deceleration this is much more difficult. The mosquito
probably would not be able to stay on its course - similarly to a passenger in a
train, who tries to stand still while the train starts moving or while it is
stopping.
Also things change dramatically if the bus becomes an open system. Take out the
front windshield and your mosquito will not fly anymore.
By the way, we also can see our earth as the bus we are all sitting in. Earth has
a distance from the sun of about 150 million kilometers and moves around the sun
within one year. To do so the earth must have an average speed of more than
100000 kilometers per hour (76000 miles per hour). Still we can walk, drive, sit
.... because we experience our earth as closed reference system.

Rahman composes airport song for Hyderabad
The new airport in Hyderabad at Shamshabad will have a song of its own, like most corporate companies do these days.
So, GMR has roped in the likes of AR Rahman and Prasoon Joshi to do the honours. While Prasoon has penned the lyrics, Rahman’s tunes will welcome the guests from March 16 onwards.
It’s well known that Rahman started his career by composing music for jingles. His unique tune for the advertisements like Leo Cofee and Airtel has been very popular among the music lovers.
He also has done theme music for many leading TV Channels.
The master always gives his best, no matter whether it is a movie or a jingle.

Kanthsamy latest update
The shooting of ‘Kanthaswamy’ turned out to be a sensational event with milk leaking from a Neem tree in the shooting spot today (Feb 25).
The shooting was held in Film City from early morning six o clock. When the unit was about to shoot a scene, they saw a wonderful sight in the nearby tree. Milk started to pour from the tree as if there was a spring of milk within the tree.
Hero Vikram, heroine Shriya, director Susi Ganesan, and others were stunned to see the unbelievable scene. The local people, who heard the news, gathered in large numbers and some of them started worshiping the tree treating it as goddess Amman.
The incident and the resultant sensation caused a delay in the shooting, which went on smoothly after a while.
The unit would soon leave to Mexico after taking a few scenes in Chennai. The mega budget film (around 40 crores), produced by Kalaipuli Thanu, is expected to be a summer release.

Arsenal's Eduardo moved to London hospital
Arsenal striker Eduardo de Silva has been transferred to an unnamed London hospital to undergo further treatment on the broken leg he suffered in yesterday's Premier League match at Birmingham City. Eduardo, the Croatia striker, last night underwent surgery at Birmingham's Selly Oak Hospital on the double compound fracture of his left leg inflicted by a tackle by Martin Taylor in the opening minutes of the 2-2 draw at St Andrews. Immediate reaction to the injury suggested the Brazilian-born Eduardo's career was in jeopardy. At the very least he will miss the rest of the season and this summer's European Championships. Taylor was sent-off for the third-minute challenge which saw play held up for seven minutes while medics treated the striker. The incident was deemed too disturbing for viewers by Sky television so that replays were not shown during live coverage of the match. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger was so incensed by the tackle that he called for Birmingham defender Taylor to be banned from football for life, although he later retracted his initial thoughts. Wenger said: "On reflection, I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game in the heat of the moment. It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo." The Arsenal coach's original allegations, however, were such that even Birmingham felt the need to issue their own statement to defend their own player. "The club are saddened that such a fantastic game of football has been marred by a serious injury sustained to Arsenal player Eduardo. But Martin Taylor is adamant there was no malicious intent," the statement read. Croatia, meanwhile, are coming to terms with losing their star player for the upcoming Euro 2008 finals. Eduardo played a key role in ensuring Croatia's progress to this summer's championships and finished the qualifying campaign with 10 goals in 12 matches - the second-best goalscorer of the competition behind Northern Ireland's David Healy. The injury has come as a huge blow to coach Slaven Bilic. However, the former West Ham player has said there are more important matters to be concerned with. He said: "This is horrible. The fact he won't play at the Euros is less important - most important is that he recovers as soon as possible and resumes his footballing career. "He is a great guy. Of course I will visit him very soon, trying to cheer him up." Croatia captain Niko Kovac, meanwhile, said he did not want to contemplate how long Eduardo could be out for, but had no sympathy for Taylor. "I can't believe this happened. Also, I can't believe such brutality still exists in football." Croatian team doctor Zoran Bahtijarevic said: "Obviously, Eduardo won't be able to join us at the Euros, but that's least important now. As a great friend and sportsman, he will be missed until his return." Arsenal are expected to make a statement tomorrow on their player's condition but today expressed their gratitude to the staff at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. |

The super-charged grandmother whose touch blows up kettles
or most of us, making a cup of tea is one of life's simpler tasks.
For Mavis Price, however, it is fraught with danger - because she can blow up kettles just by touching them.
The 60- year- old grandmother seems to have a freakishly high level of static electricity coursing through her body.
She estimates she has destroyed 15 kettles in the last few years. Housework has also become a problem, with 20 irons and ten vacuum cleaners biting the dust after falling foul of her apparently supercharged touch.
And her friends and family are often left with their hair standing on end after touching her.
Mrs Price says her bizarre condition also means she cannot keep a computer in her house because they go berserk at the brush of her hand.
"I am just an electrifying person really, who seems to build up an unusual amount of static," she said. "People have suggested going to the doctor, but I don't know what they would be able to do.
"It is all a bit mind-boggling really. No one has ever been able to offer me an explanation to why this happens to me. I seem to carry far more electricity than normal people.
"People can often get electric shocks just by standing next to me. My grandson sometimes tells me off for holding his hand, because he gets a short, sharp shock from me.
"It doesn't just happen at my house either. When I go to my daughter's house, the television crackles as I walk past it and people's hair stands on end by touching me or standing next to me.
"I think the only option might be to wear a diving suit, rubber gloves and wellingtons."
Widow Mrs Price says her unusual experiences began more than 50 years ago and she has been causing havoc ever since.
The retired community development worker, from Telford, Shropshire, added: "I first noticed it back in the 1950s when I plugged in a television set and ended up blowing up the television and flying across the room.
"Since then, I have spent thousands of pounds on new household goods every few months. When I take them back to the shop to try and explain, I always get told they have stopped working due to wear and tear. But how can a kettle stop working after just a few months? It's ridiculous.
"I had a really bad day last week where I got up, turned the light on, and managed to blow the fuse. Then I went to the supermarket and broke the checkout.
"They had to close the checkout down and said nothing like it had ever happened before.
"Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse I went to get some photographs printed and managed to completely freeze the whole machine."
Mrs Price said her electro-curse can create such mayhem that she was once unable to finish a training course.
"I went on an IT course, but it was a nightmare because every time I touched the computer it would either freeze or shut down.
"The technician had to constantly come over to my machine to see what was wrong and he was completely baffled."

Jackie Chan and Kamal
International star Jackie Chan was quite surprised on watching Ulaga Naayagan Kamal Haasan’s ten different get-ups in 'Dasavadharam'. The get ups were shown to him when the unit went to invite him to the audio release function. Jackie, it is said, had wondered saying that “Is it the same man appearing in so many roles?”
Earlier, these get-ups were also appreciated by two VIPs in Tamil Nadu. One was the CM Kalaignar M. karunanidhi and the other was Kamal’s long time friend superstar Rajinikanth.
Recently a budding star got a chance to see all those get-ups. Kamal has shown them in AVM dubbing theatre to his daughter Shruthi Haasan. The young starlet could not believe her eyes and was left dumbfounded.

Top 10 Free Programs to make the most out of your MP3 Collection
Ok, you’ve got loads of music on your computer - but is that all cluttered, unorganized, unmanaged and simply not easy to access? May be you need to do something. Literally hundreds of free software let you play, organize, burn and do lots more with your digital MP3 music collection. Have a well tagged, sortable music collection that you can be proud of!
Here comes a carefully chosen list of free programs that might help you squeeze the best out of your MP3 collection.
Part I - Audio Players
The default audio player software on your Windows is probably not enough, when it comes to extensive features and customizability. Here’s a pick of the best media players that can let you sort through and efficiently play most audio formats on your Windows computer:
VLC Player - It’s more light on resources that you would imagine. VLC is a very versatile player - throw any odd format, and it plays them for you instantly (FLV included).
Winamp - Winamp has its own fans, it’s customizable to a large extent and can come as a great saver. If you listen to music every other day, you need to have Winamp installed. A similar player is Jet Audio.
Songbird - A feature rich application that has great looks, go for it if your Windows computer has got some memory to spare, it’s reviewed here. You can customize it by adding extensions (similar to Firefox).
Part II - Organizers/Taggers/Jukeboxes
Jukeboxes are music software that come with amazing capabilities. Go for them if you have huge music collections scattered all around - not just in your computer, but also in audio CDs.
Media Monkey - The best piece of software out there that you’ll love using. Tag editor, format converter, CD recording, iPod support, you name it - it’s got all the tools that squeeze the best from your tracks.
J River Media Jukebox - Very pretty, has good features. And might serve as a good jukebox.
>> I missed out Foobar, thanks for the heads up Ashwin!
MP3 Tagger - The best ID3 tagger out there in the market, that’s free as well.
Magic MP3 Tagger - Update: Oops, sorry guys this is not freeware.
Part III- Rippers, Converters
Audio Grabber - Fantastic audio ripping software, with FreeDB tagging support included. Another similar ripper is FreeRip. Another one a few commenters have mentioned is Exact Audio Copy
Part IV - Audio Editors
Trust me, as far as I know, there’s no free editor as much capable as the professional ones out there. But still if you’d like to do some basic recording and effects, you could try these:
Audacity - Open Source, and is very light weight.
Wavosaur - Comes with no installer, and is a single exe file that does the job. Supports WAV format
Part V - Other
Last.fm - A social networking site for audiophiles out there. Listen, get interesting tracks based on what you’ve played, and add friends! More such music sites here.
Tunatic - A song is playing on your head, but you just can’t get it’s title right? Then download this, install, hum the song through your mic and let Tunatic locate info on the song for you! Quite cool for show off as well
Audio Files GDS Indexer - Google Desktop Plugin - Install this one if you have got Google Desktop installed. Adds a bunch of functionality to the Desktop Spider to make it more friendlier towards Audio files.

Innovative cosmetic surgery
In the days of the old, surgery to improve your looks was considered to be in the same order as supernatural.Surgery was meant for saving lives and improving health, but hey do looks deserve such attention?Apparently, the times have changed so much that with the advent of new technology, surgery is being implemented for getting the likeness of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. These days it's a lot more. So we can project forward to the future and say that by the time the Jetsons are around most people will have some for of cosmetic surgery. And why not? Some people seem to have an odd opinion of cosmetic surgery, as if in some way it is cheating. But it works. It makes people look good, and we all benefit from that. Plus the people who have the work done do it to change something about themselves for the better, which is something that surely should be valued in a person. Plus, if it makes them feel better about themselves it has served a very good purpose.Have a look at www.rdps.com to see about Beverly Hills breast augmentation. They have offices and a surgery center built to provide superb care for the plastic surgery patients. They are on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, so if you are in the market for cosmetic surgery travel, that would be a great destination. You hear a lot of horror stories from people who have travelled to some Eastern European country to have plastic surgery on the cheep. They get the work but sometimes the after care is so bad they have to travel home before they should and if things go wrong it's them up to their own doctors to try and fix it.Whereas california cosmetic surgeons are the experts. They pay attention to providing outstanding service. They have been mentioned on the TV show Access Hollywood, and in magazines like Elle, Fortune and The Wall Street Journal. Why, even in little old Britain the Daily Mail ran a piece on them.
So check out these links, they are bound to be of some help if you're interested in cosmetic surgery and liposuction.
