The shooting of ‘Kanthaswamy’ turned out to be a sensational event with milk leaking from a Neem tree in the shooting spot today (Feb 25).

The shooting was held in Film City from early morning six o clock. When the unit was about to shoot a scene, they saw a wonderful sight in the nearby tree. Milk started to pour from the tree as if there was a spring of milk within the tree.

Hero Vikram, heroine Shriya, director Susi Ganesan, and others were stunned to see the unbelievable scene. The local people, who heard the news, gathered in large numbers and some of them started worshiping the tree treating it as goddess Amman.

The incident and the resultant sensation caused a delay in the shooting, which went on smoothly after a while.

The unit would soon leave to Mexico after taking a few scenes in Chennai. The mega budget film (around 40 crores), produced by Kalaipuli Thanu, is expected to be a summer release.

The super-charged grandmother whose touch blows up kettles

or most of us, making a cup of tea is one of life's simpler tasks.

For Mavis Price, however, it is fraught with danger - because she can blow up kettles just by touching them.

The 60- year- old grandmother seems to have a freakishly high level of static electricity coursing through her body.

She estimates she has destroyed 15 kettles in the last few years. Housework has also become a problem, with 20 irons and ten vacuum cleaners biting the dust after falling foul of her apparently supercharged touch.

And her friends and family are often left with their hair standing on end after touching her.

Mrs Price says her bizarre condition also means she cannot keep a computer in her house because they go berserk at the brush of her hand.

"I am just an electrifying person really, who seems to build up an unusual amount of static," she said. "People have suggested going to the doctor, but I don't know what they would be able to do.

"It is all a bit mind-boggling really. No one has ever been able to offer me an explanation to why this happens to me. I seem to carry far more electricity than normal people.

"People can often get electric shocks just by standing next to me. My grandson sometimes tells me off for holding his hand, because he gets a short, sharp shock from me.

"It doesn't just happen at my house either. When I go to my daughter's house, the television crackles as I walk past it and people's hair stands on end by touching me or standing next to me.

"I think the only option might be to wear a diving suit, rubber gloves and wellingtons."

Widow Mrs Price says her unusual experiences began more than 50 years ago and she has been causing havoc ever since.

The retired community development worker, from Telford, Shropshire, added: "I first noticed it back in the 1950s when I plugged in a television set and ended up blowing up the television and flying across the room.

"Since then, I have spent thousands of pounds on new household goods every few months. When I take them back to the shop to try and explain, I always get told they have stopped working due to wear and tear. But how can a kettle stop working after just a few months? It's ridiculous.

"I had a really bad day last week where I got up, turned the light on, and managed to blow the fuse. Then I went to the supermarket and broke the checkout.

"They had to close the checkout down and said nothing like it had ever happened before.

"Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse I went to get some photographs printed and managed to completely freeze the whole machine."

Mrs Price said her electro-curse can create such mayhem that she was once unable to finish a training course.

"I went on an IT course, but it was a nightmare because every time I touched the computer it would either freeze or shut down.

"The technician had to constantly come over to my machine to see what was wrong and he was completely baffled."

US shoots down toxic satellite

A MISSILE fired from a US Navy warship has hit a dying spy satellite 247km above the Pacific Ocean but it is not yet known whether the strike has nullified the threat of a toxic fuel landing in a populated area, the Pentagon says.

Australia is one of the countries that has been placed on alert because of the risk.

The SM-3 missile was fired from the USS Lake Erie in the Pacific at about 10.26 EST (2.26pm AEDT) and scored a direct hit on the bus-sized satellite, the Pentagon said.

The US Department of Defence (DoD) officially confirmed that the operation was a “success”.

“A network of land, air, sea and spaced-based sensors confirms that the U.S. military intercepted a non-functioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite which was in its final orbits before entering the earth's atmosphere,” the DoD said.

But the DoD said it would be some time before it was known if the toxic fuel would reach earth.

“The objective was to rupture the fuel tank to dissipate the approximately 1,000 pounds (453 kg) of hydrazine, a hazardous fuel which could pose a danger to people on earth, before it entered into earth's atmosphere.

“Confirmation that the fuel tank has been fragmented should be available within 24 hours.”

The DoD also said debris had already begun to enter the earth’s atmosphere, although most of it would burn up within 48 hours.

A defence official told the Associated Press that an initial view of the missile strike indicated it probably hit the fuel tank.

The Pentagon said last week that US President George W. Bush had decided the navy should try to shoot down the satellite because its tank of hazardous hydrazine could leak if it enters the atmosphere and reaches Earth.

Russia and China have expressed concern about the operation. The Russian Defence Ministry said it could be used as cover to test a new space weapon.

Washington has insisted the operation is purely to prevent people being harmed by the satellite's fuel load.

There may be no Internet tomorrow!

Well that can't be a coincidence .. five undersea Internet cables have been cut or disabled over the past week or so. These are SeaMeWe-4 (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-4) near Penang, Malaysia, the FLAG Europe-Asia near Alexandria, FLAG near the Dubai coast, FALCON near Bandar Abbas in Iran and SeaMeWe-4, also near Alexandria. The first cut in the undersea Internet cable occurred on January 23, in the Flag Telcoms FALCON submarine cable which was not reported. This has not been repaired yet and the cause remains unknown, explained Jaishanker.

A major cut affecting the UAE occurred on January 30 in the SeaMeWe-4 (South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-4). "This was followed by another cut on February 1 which was on the same cable (FALCON). This affected the du network majorly as connections from the Gulf were severed while there was limited connectivity within the region," said Khaled Tabbara, executive director, Carrier Relations, du. He explained that the network was re-routed through Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia and was near normal now. Almost 90 per cent of Internet traffic is routed through undersea cables and only 10 per cent is done through the satellite. The experts also suggested that the cause of damage could have been a ship's anchor that was dragging due to inclement weather conditions in the region during that particular period.

This has to be intentional. C'mon, aside from the RIAA hiring a seamonster to cut off music pirates in Iran, what are the odds that this is all random?

Kunal commits suicide

Actor Kunal who shot to fame throughout the country with his debut film ‘Kadhlar Dinam’ directed by Kathir passes away. He was found dead early this morning at his flat in Andheri, Mumbai.

The desolate actor committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in the wee hours of Thursday (February 7). Our sources say that the actor was undergoing a spell of depression for the last few days, though the reason for the same is unknown.

Kunal’s friend, Laveena, was reportedly present when the incident took place. She however, claimed not to have witnessed anything as she had gone to the bathroom. His wife Anu was not present at the spot, as she was visiting her parents in Ahmednagar.

Kunal, who is basically a north Indian has done about a dozen films in Tamil. It is ironic that most of the titles of his films had romantic names like ‘Varsham Ellam Vasantham’, ‘Unnarchigal’ and ‘Paarvai Onre Pothumey’. Kunal’s last film was ‘Nanbanin Kathali’.

It is sheer coincidence that the heroine of the film ‘Paarvai Onre Pothumey’ Monal too had committed suicide.

Kunal will be remembered for the A.R. Rahman music of his debut film ‘Kathalar Dhinam’. The melancholic Rojaa, Rojaa… and the melodious Daandiya Aatumadam… picturised on Kunal and the strikingly beautiful Sonali Bendre will hardly be forgotten by the people of Tamil Nadu.

The actor is survived by his wife, two children, and his father who is a colonel with the Army.

Gas-pumping robot!

Motorists nostalgic for the time they could sit tight while attendants braved windswept garage forecourts to fill their tanks may yet see those heady days return -- compliments of a Dutch robot.

Dutch inventors unveiled Monday a 75,000 euro ($111,100) car-fuelling robot they say is the first of its kind, working by registering the car on arrival at the filling station and matching it to a database of fuel cap designs and fuel types.

A robotic arm fitted with multiple sensors extends from a regular petrol pump, carefully opens the car's flap, unscrews the cap, picks up the fuel nozzle and directs it toward the tank opening, much as a human arm would, and as efficiently.

"I was on a farm and I saw a robotic arm milking a cow. If a robot can do that then why can't it fill a car tank, I thought," said developer and petrol station operator Nico van Staveren. "Drivers needn't get dirty hands or smell of petrol again."

He hopes to introduce the "Tankpitstop" robot in a handful of Dutch stations by the end of the year. It works for any car whose tank can be opened without a key, and whose contours and dimensions have been recorded to avoid scratching.
Asked whether he would trust his car to a robotic garage attendant, Jelger De Kroon, fillinghis black Alfa Romeo at a nearby petrol station, said: "Why not? I guess I could keep my hands free and clean, but I'd hope they have good insurance."

RIAA PWNED!!

Apparently the RIAA is so busy suing consumers that they forgot to hire a decent programmer. With a simple SQL injection, all their propaganda has been successfully wiped from the site.

It started out on Reddit, where a link to a really slow SQL query was posted. While the Reddit users were trying to kill the RIAA server, someone allegedly decided to up the ante and wipe the site’s entire database.

The comments on Reddit are only speculation so far. Based on the username, which was apparently “webReadOnly”, it might not have been setup correctly, or someone could have found another way to delete the content form the site.

Another possibility is that the RIAA themselves removed the content temporarily. This would seem unlikely, as a better solution would be to take it entirely offline to fix the bigger problem. While they could fix a small vulnerability like this in a matter of seconds, the chances are it’s not an isolated problem.

As pointed out by Haywire, playing around with the urls a bit can return some funny results. It is pretty easy to make the RIAA link to The Pirate Bay for example.

For now it sure does look like all the content has been wiped from the RIAA homepage. Let’s hope they have backups, or not.

Madonna, who was in Rajasthan on a leisure trip with her husband, son and other family members, fell in love with not only the Rajasthani folk songs but the traditional ghoomar and the dandiya dance too, say sources."Rajasthani folk songs and dances fascinated Madonna. She especially liked the song Nimbura Nimbura and might even make a remake of it in English and have some steps of ghoomar in her performances," a source told IANS.

Madonna popularised henna tattooing through her album, which set off a trend to put mehandi on the hands in America and Britain. She reportedly loved every bit of her five-day Rajasthan holiday."She said that Rajasthan is even more beautiful than what she imagined. She liked Rajasthani cuisine, especially dal and chapattis made of bajra (millet)," the source added.On Thursday night, she had dressed up in traditional Rajasthani attire of ghagra and choli (long skirt and blouse) and danced with folk artistes at Rohetgarh fort near Jodhpur.

A lonely creature

For the last 12 years, a single solitary whale whose vocalizations match no known living species has been tracked across the Northeast Pacific. Its wanderings match no known migratory patterns of any living whale species. Its vocalizations have also subtly deepened over the years, indicating that the whale is maturing and ageing. And, during the entire 12 year span that it has been tracked, it has been calling out for contact from others of its own kind.

It has received no answer. Nor will it ever. You can listen to the lonely whale at the NOAA. Its call is at 52 hertz, which is roughly that of a low note on a Tuba.

The New Scientist informs us that blue whales call out at 15-20 hertz. Fin whales at 20 hertz. Humpbacks sing at much higher frequencies.

The mystery of the solitary whale has captured the imagination. Hypotheses as to its identity include the possibility that the whale is deaf, that it is a hybrid of two species, or that it is sick or malformed (although unlikely, since it has survived for more than 12 years).

Or perhaps, if you want to get weird, you can note for fun that this story matches the plot of a Star Trek Movie. But Leonard Nimoy did not pen this story; it is for real.

Whatever the identity of this strange unidentified alien whale, it is, for now, the very definition of poetic, existential loneliness, in both time and space. The whale is somewhere wandering the Northeast Pacific, right now, in a rudderless, aimless track. And right now the lonely beast could be calling out for others of its kind, and finding none, for over 12 years and counting.
